A Black Kite sits on a tree branch at Iningai Nature Reserve, Longreach.

A few kilometres south of Longreach is a seemingly insignificant nature reserve named Iningai Nature Reserve. Named after the traditional owners who lived along the Thomson River prior to European settlement, it is currently a reserve and the town common. You can drive and park in the car park just off the Longreach-Jundah Road. Another options is to walk the track from the Stockman’s Hall of Fame. This walk is about 2.5 kms. At the reserve you will find bushwalking tracks north and south from the car park. This is the same track, just looping around. There are other walking tracks and you will get more information on the information board about 300 metres north of the car park.
