This 4 hour theory session fills in the gaps. Learn how the creative modes work and how you can create more interesting photos.

This course is ideal if you’re comfortable with taking good photographs but just want to learn more about the settings that are available to you.

Topics we cover:

Basic camera operation – what the settings mean

Shooting modes – manual, auto or semi-automatic

Aperture, shutter speed and ISO - what it all means

How to read a histogram - exposure is everything

Jpg vs. raw – what file format to shoot in

Metering – how the camera measures light

White balance – what it is and how you can use it

Exposure compensation – adjusting exposure

Focusing – auto, manual, selecting focus points

Lenses -which focal length suits the job

How to check things turned out right – histograms and other info

About the morning

I usually run these sessions in the Toowoomba City Library.

We start at 9:00am and finish at 1:00pm.

For this session you will need:

Digital SLR, Mirrorless or high end point and shoot. You MUST be able to set your camera to manual mode.

Your camera manual.

Something to write on and with.

All this for only $120 per person.
